EUDPD and cloud backup
Data Protection Directive
The European Union (EU) has a European directive restricting the use of a cloud backup in certain circumstances, the EU Data Protection Directive. The EUDPD defines some basic requirements on the protection of personal data of European citizens.
In practice the EUDPD prohibits many organisation to send any personal data to countries outside the European Union.
In which country?
Many organizations and companies have therefore waited to see which way the wind blows in terms of cloud backups because they have no control over where their data streams to.
Servers in Europe
At Pro Backup any backup data is stored on servers located within Europe, which allows users to meet EUDPD.
